Position Summary

The Front Store Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and day-to-day operations of the front store within the retail pharmacy. This role ensures excellence in customer service, team leadership, merchandising, inventory management, and operational efficiency.

The Front Store Manager leads a team of approximately 40 front store employees and is responsible for creating a positive, productive, and customer-focused environment. This position works collaboratively with pharmacy leadership to ensure the store operates effectively while maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism. It is important to note, that the Front Store Manager may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays when required.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead the recruitment, training, scheduling, and development of front store staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and high performance while supporting our ABC’s (Attitude, Behaviour, Contribution).
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and mentorship to support employee growth and engagement.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Ensure staffing levels and scheduling support operational needs and excellent customer service.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure exceptional customer service is consistently delivered by all front store team members.
  • Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment that reflects MacQuarries Pharmasave standards.
  • Promote a culture where customer care and community connection are priorities.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily front store operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements.
  • Support loss prevention initiatives, inventory accuracy, and shrink reduction strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy leadership to ensure smooth coordination between departments.

Merchandising & Sales

  • Maintain merchandising standards including signage, pricing accuracy, and product placement.
  • Oversee inventory management including ordering, receiving, and stock control.
  • Monitor sales trends and support promotional campaigns, seasonal programs, and flyer initiatives.
  • Ensure shelves and displays are well stocked and visually appealing to support sales performance.

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

  • Oversee store opening and closing procedures including cash management and end-of-day reporting.
  • Review and approve schedules, timecards, and operational documentation.
  • Monitor store performance metrics and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in retail management or a related field is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in a retail environment, preferably within pharmacy, grocery, or high-volume retail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a hands-on and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Experience with POS systems, Microsoft Office, and inventory management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced retail environment.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasional need to respond to urgent store needs outside of scheduled hours.
